Articles, Industrial

Know when it is time to change your wood cutting band saw blade. In general, the teeth dull over time and create problems with cut squareness, finish, and time of cut.

The first major sign of trouble is when a blade cuts out of square. If the blade dives or cuts down into the lumber, this could be a sign the teeth are wearing out. A second signal the blade is wearing out is determined by the final surface finish after cutting. Score marks across the application or a wavy cut finish identify individual teeth could be causing a problem.

The last concern is a slow cut time. If you feel the machine bogging down, shaking, or cutting slower than normal, it could be a sign the teeth are no longer sharp. You may even notice burn marks on the wood.

In all these cases, you should change the band saw blade to improve your cut quality. Learn more by watching here.
