Challenger is a bi-metal band saw blade specifically designed to cut structural materials and I-beams. One common problem when tackling these applications is pinching, which can cause blade breakage, damage to the application being cut, and reduced efficiency.
This happens either because of residual stress in the piece being cut or how the part has to be held on the machine. In either case, the material being cut pinches in on the back of the saw blade, causing it to stop rotating or fracture.
For applications where this is a problem, we suggest using the Challenger Wide Kerf option, which will cut a wider channel through the application, allowing the blade to progress without pinching. Watch Challenger in action here.
